Terms & Conditions

The short version

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and DropNotch, made by Guillaume Castillo and Mitchell LeGrand ("we", "us"). They cover the DropNotch and DropNotch Float apps for macOS ("the app") and this website. You accept them when you tick the box before downloading, or when you use the app.

If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and approve any purchase.

2. Your licence

The app is licensed to you, not sold. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download, install and use the app on Macs you own or control, for your own personal or work use.

If the app needs a licence key, the key is for you alone. The number of Macs one key covers will be shown at purchase.

3. What you can't do

4. Free trial

Each Mac can use DropNotch free for 24 hours, starting the first time it's opened on that Mac. The trial includes every feature. When it ends, DropNotch stops until you enter a licence key. Each Mac gets one trial: reinstalling or deleting the app doesn't start a new one. To keep track of this, DropNotch sends our licence server an anonymous ID for your Mac (see our Privacy Policy).

5. Payment

DropNotch costs $8 AUD, paid once, with everything included. Prices are in Australian dollars; if you pay in another currency, your bank converts it. Payments are handled by Stripe, and we never see your full card details. Your licence key is emailed to the address you give at checkout.

Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

6. Updates and changes

We may release updates that fix bugs, add features or change how the app works. We'll explain at launch which updates your purchase includes. We won't take away the main features you paid for without telling you.

Some features rely on macOS, other apps or outside services: Apple Music, Spotify, Calendar, Reminders, LRCLIB for lyrics and Open-Meteo for weather. If Apple or those services change or stop, a feature may stop working, and we'll do our best to keep it working.

7. Privacy and permissions

The app asks macOS for permissions (such as Calendar, Camera or Bluetooth) only when you use a feature that needs them. Our Privacy Policy explains what data is used and where it goes.

8. Your consumer rights

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes those rights, or any rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.

9. Our liability

We provide the app "as is", to the extent the law allows. Apart from the guarantees you can't lose under the Australian Consumer Law:

Please keep backups of your important files. The Tray and Clipboard features work with files and text on your Mac, but they're not a backup service.

10. Trademarks and ownership

The app, the DropNotch name and logo, and this website belong to us. DropNotch is an independent app and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc. Apple, Mac, MacBook, macOS, AirPods, AirDrop, Apple Music, FaceTime and Dynamic Island are trademarks of Apple Inc. Other names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the app and delete it at any time. If you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing or reselling licence keys, we may end your licence after telling you. Sections 8 to 10 continue after the agreement ends.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You can still rely on the consumer protection laws of the place where you live.
